Endless Storytelling through a Block Game

Minecraft is one of the greatest  sandbox games made of all time and THAT is no understatement. With Minecraft, players can create ANYTHING that can possibly be imagined, especially stories! That's right, Minecraft is an AMAZING platform for storytelling and there are several communities that were founded and brought together through Minecraft storytelling!

The possibilities are endless!

There are many ways to tell your story through Minecraft. One of the most popular methods is quite simply through Minecraft Roleplay (MCRP)! People have been creating lore and making roleplays in Minecraft practically since it came out! Some popular roleplays include Minecraft Diaries (link) and Mystreet (link) by Aphmau and her crew (link) as well as Samgladiators (link), Yandere Highschool series (link). These Minecraft Roleplay Series have made such big impressions on millions of people and yes, I do mean Millions! Even today, people still strive to make similar MCRPS to theirs.

Another popular form of storytelling through Minecraft is through Minecraft SMP (Survival Multiplayer) servers! SMP servers are an AMAZING way to get started with lore and Roleplay if you are new because unlike your typical MCRP, SMP-lore isn't scripted AND for lore-based SMPs, while storytelling is a main focus of the server, it is also one of the best places to find a like-minded Community where you can find your people! Most Lore-based SMPs have some sort of theme to them, such as Rats SMP (link), an SMP where you play as a rat by POW Creations (link) and Outsiders SMP (link), an SMP based on the Maze Runner series (link) hosted by OwengeJuiceTV (link) and Apokuna (link)

Where to look?

If you are interested in joining a Minecraft roleplay community of your own, you may be wondering, where do I even begin to look? LUCKILY, I know a few places where you can search for Lore-based SMPs, MCRP´s etc! The first place I would recommend is Minecraft Lore News (link) on Twitter (No, I refuse to call it X :3).

Minecraft Lore News is a place that promotes and keeps you updated an various lore-based servers both big and small and there not JUST on Twitter, they also have a community Discord (link) server AS WELL AS their VERY OWN website (link) that includes articles such as Lore Deed (link) which helps promote various lore-based SMPs that have applications open and Lore-Theory (link) a series of articles (totally not heavily inspired by Game Theory, NO WAY :3)  that helps promote lore-based servers by keeping its readers updated on ongoing server lore while having all the information explained almost as if it were a Game Theory Script! (with the authors own twist, of course^^)

Another place I would recommend looking is r/MinecraftRoleplay (link) on Reddit! This subreddit is an amazing place to search if you are looking to join anything lore-based in Minecraft! This could be a lore-based SMP, a scripted MCRP, a simple hangout for like-minded people who have a passion for storytelling through Minecraft, other MCRP content such as videos and images, etc!

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!

MCRPs and SMPs are not the only ways to create your story, far from it actually! THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of stories are told through various Minecraft maps such as the Panoris High map series (link) and The Kitatcho Laboratories map series (link)! Not ONLY that, but countless stories are also explained and told just through Minecraft builds ALONE!

In the end, story telling is an amazing hobby that inspires many people to strive and create their own story or simply be a part of another person's story. The possibilities are endless, ENDLESS I tell you and for many people, Minecraft is not just a game, it is a creative outlet! Personally, I think Minecraft holds a special place in the storytelling community. It is truly something special!
